South Korean President Moon Jae-in has announced the provision of assistance for the Cambodia-Korea Friendship Bridge to Cambodia after the head of the Cambodian government asked the Korean side to help as it is a symbol of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
Ministry of Public Works and Transport spokesman Wasim Sorya said by telephone this morning that the South Korean president had Korea to build Cambodian friendship bridge at 2nd ASEAN-Korea summit held in Vietnam-Korea to Cambodia.
“However, I can not confirm whether the bridge has been completed or not, because in the past, the Korean side did not allow us to speak. “But all of a sudden, the Korean president said that at the meeting.” He continued, “In the past, the Royal Government of Cambodia requested the Korean side to help study and build a bridge from Kampong Da in Chroy Changvar area to Svay Chrum area, but the Korean side has not completed or studied yet.”
The Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, Samdech Techo Hun Sen, during a visit to the Republic of Korea in early 2020, requested Mr. Mon Jae-in to provide assistance for the construction of the Cambodia-Korea Friendship Bridge to assist Cambodia as a symbol of friendship between the two countries. China and Japan have already helped build a friendship bridge for Cambodia.
People living in Svay Chrum and Arey Ksat areas are always looking forward to the new bridge connecting them, so we hope that the Korean side will help build a bridge for friendship and cooperation between the two countries in the near future.
