Apartment and House Deals in Cambodia
You can also consider buying a house, or renting an apartment. I found this one on Airbnb, but there are plenty of other options around. It’s a $50/night place, but it’s clean, it’s in a good location, and it has an amazing view. It’s the best place I’ve stayed in Cambodia, and I was here for five months. The owner was nice and showed me around. I have used Airbnb a lot in Cambodia and it’s one of the best ways to save money. I have also stayed in a few hotels and I always stay in Airbnbs when I go to Southeast Asia. You can read more about my experiences with Airbnb on this page.

The government eventually closed that loophole though in 2018. Foreigners who want to stay in the country long term will now need a work permit to extend their visas for 6 or 12 months.
