Cambodian people celebrate New Year as a joyous time with their families and friends, and New Year resolutions are made to make the next year better.

Families gather during New Year in Cambodia

The New Year is a time for families to come together. The new year-end also marks the beginning of celebrations for Cambodian people. New Years in Cambodia are spent with family, feasting on various dishes including cucumber salad, sticky rice, and fish. Families will give one another their New Year’s gift early to avoid being seen as greedy. The gift is usually an envelope with money inside to be saved for later. Families will visit somewhere such as Sinoukville, Kep, Koh Kong beach or visiting Angkor Wat, Siem Reap province where millions of both local and international visitors dreams visiting her (Angkor Wat temple). Cambodians are known to be welcoming people, who are often seen nearly always smiling.
