Battambang, Seim Reap, and Preah Sihanouk provinces of Cambodia have received the ASEAN Clean Tourist City Standard Awards 2022-2024 for their cleanliness, green environment and smart facilities.
On January 17, the Cambodia Clean City Committee announced that the award hand-over ceremony will be held at the ASEAN Tourism Forum hosted by Cambodia in Preah Sihanouk province.
The ASEAN Clean Tourist City Standard (ACTCS) aims to equip ASEAN member countries with a tool that will improve the quality of tourism in their cities, increase their marketing competitiveness.
It also contributes to improving the livelihood of the residents, alleviating poverty, and protecting the environment to mitigate the impacts of climate change.
It is expected to offer ASEAN member countries with benchmarks to aim for and ultimately lead to greater tourist satisfaction, greater numbers of visitors and better conditions for the local population.
The selection of the winning cities is based on a set of indicators that evaluate how sustainable the nominated ASEAN cities are, assess the quality of the tourism they offer, and identify areas that can be improved.
