French solar distributor (DG) has partnered with Singapore-based developer Canopy Power Pte Ltd to set up a power grid solar and energy storage in Cambodia.
EPC, an engineering and construction contractor, and Canopy Power will be in charge, according to a post on renewablesnow.com on Monday. Design and construction of a 1.25-megawatt solar park (PV) and a 2-megawatt battery combined with Diesel engines and smart controllers.
Total Solar DG, the project’s financier, will manage and operate the power grid after the handover.
The small power grid will be built on the Cambodian island of Koh Rong Samloem on the coast of Sihanoukville.
According to the French solar company, tourism on the island relies on their own diesel generators to import oil.
Total Solar DG says the new grid could reduce the island’s diesel consumption by more than 600,000 liters a year.
According to the French company, construction of the project has already begun and the company expects it to be completed by April 2021.
