  4. Avoid clicking unknown links – Many scams involve phishing links that steal login credentials.
  5. Use Telegram’s privacy settings – Hide your phone number, enable two-step verification, and restrict who can add you to groups.
  6. Report suspicious accounts – If you encounter scammers, report them to Telegram and block them immediately.
  7. Stay updated on scam tactics – Follow cybersecurity updates to learn about new types of scams and how to avoid them.

What You Should Do When a Stranger Contacts You via Telegram

If a stranger messages you on Telegram, take the following steps:

  1. Ignore and do not engage – If the message seems suspicious, do not reply.
  2. Check their profile – Look for signs of a fake profile, such as no profile picture or a newly created account.
  3. Do a reverse image search – If they send images claiming to be someone, use a reverse image search to check if the photos are stolen from elsewhere.
  4. Block and report – If the user is suspicious, block them and report them to Telegram.
  5. Warn others – Inform your friends and family about potential scams to help them stay safe.

Conclusion

Telegram is a powerful communication tool, but it is also a playground for scammers. The app’s anonymity, encryption, self-destructing messages, and lack of strict moderation make it attractive for cybercriminals. In Cambodia, scammers exploit Telegram’s features to run job scams, fake investments, and crypto frauds.

By being cautious, enabling security settings, and staying informed, you can protect yourself from scams. Always verify unknown contacts, avoid sharing personal data, and report suspicious activities.

If you spot any scam, phising or fruad online you can file a complain to General Commissariat of National Police: https://hotline.police.gov.kh/

DeepSeek: The Chinese AI Startup Challenging Global Tech Giants and Redefining Innovation

The world of artificial intelligence is in turmoil, and for good reason. A small Chinese startup, DeepSeek, has burst onto the scene with groundbreaking claims that are sending ripples across the global tech industry. With its rapid rise, the startup is being hailed as both a disruptor and a game-changer in the AI sector. But what is DeepSeek, and why is this Hangzhou-based company making waves in a market dominated by giants like OpenAI and Nvidia?

What Is DeepSeek?

In this blog, we’ll explore DeepSeek’s meteoric rise, its innovative technologies, its impact on the stock market, and its potential to reshape the geopolitical landscape of AI.

What Is DeepSeek?

Founded in 2023, DeepSeek is an artificial intelligence lab based in Hangzhou, China. Despite its modest beginnings, the company claims to have developed two cutting-edge AI models, DeepSeek-V3 and DeepSeek-R1, which it says are on par with advanced AI models developed by global heavyweights like OpenAI and Meta (Facebook’s parent company).

The company’s controlling shareholder, Liang Wenfeng, co-founder of the hedge fund High-Flyer, is a driving force behind DeepSeek’s success. Under his leadership, DeepSeek has gained attention for its ambitious goals and its claims of achieving superior performance at a fraction of the cost of its competitors.

The Claims That Shook the Industry

DeepSeek’s boldest claim is that it cost the company less than $6 million to train its flagship AI model, DeepSeek-V3. In comparison, OpenAI reportedly spent over $100 million to train the latest version of ChatGPT.

What makes this claim even more remarkable is the hardware DeepSeek used. According to the company, it relied on less-advanced chips to train its models. This is a notable achievement given that the U.S. government has imposed strict export restrictions on advanced AI chips, particularly to China, citing national security concerns.

Despite these restrictions, DeepSeek says its models are 20 to 50 times cheaper to train than those of its competitors, depending on the task.

Damian Rollison, Director of Market Insights at SOCi, remarked, “We were primed to expect AI development to grow by leaps and bounds since the public launch of ChatGPT, but the U.S. was caught by surprise when the latest leap came from China.”

However, these claims have been met with skepticism. Alexandr Wang, CEO of Scale AI, argued in a recent CNBC interview that DeepSeek likely used advanced Nvidia chips, despite its assertions to the contrary. Analysts at Bernstein also suggested that the company’s total training costs may have been higher than reported.

How DeepSeek Is Disrupting Global Markets?

The unveiling of DeepSeek’s technology has had immediate consequences for the stock market. On the day of its announcement, shares of major tech companies experienced significant declines:

  • Nvidia, a leading AI chip manufacturer, saw its stock price plummet by 17%, wiping out nearly $600 billion from its market capitalization—a record single-day loss.
  • Oracle, a partner in the Stargate AI project, dipped by 14%.
  • The Nasdaq composite, which is heavily weighted toward tech companies, sank by 3.1%.

Daniel Ives, a Wedbush Securities analyst, noted, “Clearly, tech stocks are under massive pressure led by Nvidia as the Street views DeepSeek as a major perceived threat to U.S. tech dominance and owning this AI revolution.”

Why DeepSeek Matters in the AI Race?

DeepSeek’s emergence comes at a time when AI is becoming increasingly intertwined with global power dynamics. The Biden administration’s export restrictions on AI chips were designed to curb China’s technological advancements, but DeepSeek’s success raises questions about the effectiveness of these measures.

The U.S. government has expressed concerns about the potential misuse of AI technologies. In a recent statement, the administration warned, “In the wrong hands, powerful AI systems have the potential to exacerbate significant national security risks, including by enabling the development of weapons of mass destruction, supporting offensive cyber operations, and aiding human rights abuses.”

DeepSeek’s ability to circumvent these restrictions and produce competitive AI models is not just a technological milestone—it’s a geopolitical wake-up call.

The Rise of DeepSeek’s App

DeepSeek’s popularity isn’t confined to the tech community. Its AI-powered app, based on the DeepSeek-V3 model, has taken the consumer market by storm. Launched on January 10, the app quickly climbed to the top of Apple’s App Store’s “top free apps” chart.

The app claims to use “state-of-the-art” AI that “leads global standards and matches top-tier international models.” Its user-friendly interface and free accessibility have contributed to its widespread adoption.

Security Concerns and Cyberattacks

DeepSeek’s rapid rise has also brought scrutiny. As a Chinese company, it faces heightened concerns about data security and potential misuse of its technology.

Damian Rollison of SOCi commented, “It seems likely that the AI arms race, as it’s already being called, will have geopolitical implications that go beyond mere economic competition, which will in turn impact the future of these transformative technologies.”

Adding to its challenges, DeepSeek’s website experienced significant disruptions following a series of cyberattacks. The company acknowledged the issue, stating that “large-scale malicious attacks” had temporarily affected its registration services.

DeepSeek’s Impact on the Global Tech Landscape

DeepSeek’s emergence signals a shift in the global tech landscape. For years, the U.S. has been the undisputed leader in AI innovation, but DeepSeek’s success challenges that narrative.

The startup’s ability to deliver high-quality AI models at a fraction of the cost poses a direct threat to U.S. tech giants, which have traditionally relied on massive budgets and advanced hardware.

This development also underscores the growing role of Chinese startups in the global tech ecosystem. With companies like DeepSeek leading the charge, China is positioning itself as a formidable player in the AI race.

What’s Next for DeepSeek?

DeepSeek’s future remains uncertain, but its disruptive potential is undeniable. The company has already proven that it can compete with—and even outperform—some of the biggest names in tech.

However, challenges lie ahead. DeepSeek will need to address concerns about data security, navigate geopolitical tensions, and prove the scalability of its technology.

If the company can overcome these obstacles, it could usher in a new era of AI innovation, one that is more accessible and cost-effective.

A New Era in AI

DeepSeek’s rise is a testament to the rapid pace of innovation in the AI sector. Its ability to deliver cutting-edge technology at a fraction of the cost has not only disrupted global markets but also challenged the dominance of established tech giants.

As the world watches closely, DeepSeek has the potential to redefine what’s possible in AI—and to reshape the geopolitical landscape in the process.

What do you think about DeepSeek’s potential to disrupt the AI industry? Share your thoughts in the comments below!

At the same time, they must remain vigilant and proactive in protecting their digital assets from cyber threats.

As Ali Syde noted, cybersecurity doesn’t require a massive team but rather the right steps and practices. Simple measures like two-factor authentication, encryption, and employee training can make a significant difference in safeguarding businesses.

The future is digital, and businesses that invest in AI and cybersecurity today will be better prepared to navigate the opportunities and challenges of tomorrow. By embracing innovation and prioritizing security, Cambodian businesses can build a resilient foundation for long-term success.

Google Search, the ubiquitous tool used by billions worldwide, is gearing up for a transformation in 2025. Sundar Pichai, Google’s CEO, unveiled a glimpse of the future during a talk at the New York Times DealBook Summit, hinting at revolutionary advancements.

“Search itself will continue to change profoundly,” Pichai stated. “I think you’ll be surprised, even early in [2025], by the kind of new things search can do compared to where it is today.”

Here’s what we know so far about these changes and what they mean for users, content creators, and businesses.

AI Takes Center Stage

For years, Google has embedded artificial intelligence (AI) into its search algorithms, with tools like BERT and MUM making it smarter and more intuitive. Now, the introduction of Gemini, Google’s latest AI system, signals a new era for search capabilities. Gemini, already impacting over a billion users, promises to tackle even more complex queries and provide hyper-relevant answers.

With this leap, search will become faster and more accurate, helping users navigate even the trickiest questions with ease. As Pichai emphasized, these changes are only the beginning of what AI can bring to Google Search.

Why These Changes Matter?

In an age of content overload, finding reliable and concise information has become more challenging than ever. With social media, news platforms, and countless blogs vying for attention, Google’s evolving role as a trusted guide through this digital maze is critical.

“Search becomes even more valuable in a world where you’re inundated with content,” Pichai explained. By prioritizing clarity and trustworthiness, Google aims to remain the go-to platform for discovering accurate information efficiently.

A New Marketplace for Content Creators?

One of the pressing issues in this transformation is how Google interacts with content creators. While major publishers like The New York Times and the Associated Press are compensated through licensing deals, smaller creators often miss out.

Pichai hinted at a groundbreaking “marketplace” model that could reshape how content creators earn revenue. This system might allow creators to receive direct payments when their work is utilized by AI-powered tools, offering a potential solution to the longstanding debate over fair use and compensation.

However, implementing such a system presents challenges. Balancing content creators’ rights with the demand for AI-driven innovation requires careful navigation. As laws around digital content and AI evolve, Google’s approach will likely face global scrutiny.

The Future of Search: Smarter and More Interactive

The 2025 updates aim to make Google Search more interactive and personalized. Imagine conducting a search that feels like a conversation with a knowledgeable expert, who not only answers your questions but also predicts your needs and suggests tailored solutions.

This conversational model could enhance experiences across diverse activities—from planning travel itineraries to understanding complex academic concepts. By integrating advanced AI, Google aims to simplify users’ lives, ensuring that search becomes more than a tool—it becomes an intuitive assistant.

How Cambodians Use Google Search

In Cambodia, Google Search has become a vital resource for individuals and businesses alike. The country’s rapidly growing digital economy and increasing internet penetration have made the platform indispensable. Cambodians use Google for a variety of purposes:

  • Education: Students rely on Google for accessing learning resources, tutorials, and language tools.
  • Business: Entrepreneurs and small businesses use search to find suppliers, market insights, and promote their products.
  • Travel: With Cambodia being a major tourist destination, Google Search helps locals and visitors discover attractions, restaurants, and travel tips.
  • E-commerce: Consumers often use Google to compare prices and reviews before purchasing online.

The upcoming AI-driven enhancements will likely amplify these uses, making search an even more powerful tool for Cambodian users.

Preparing for the Changes

As 2025 approaches, both individuals and businesses can take proactive steps to adapt to the new Google Search features:

  1. Embrace AI: Familiarize yourself with AI technologies to leverage their potential benefits.
  2. Create High-Quality Content: For creators, producing trustworthy and engaging content will be essential to stand out in an AI-enhanced search landscape.
  3. Monitor Policy Developments: Stay updated on evolving regulations surrounding digital content and AI.
  4. Experiment with New Tools: Early adoption of Google’s latest search features can provide a competitive advantage.

What Lies Ahead

The changes slated for 2025 underscore Google’s commitment to innovation and user satisfaction. However, they also highlight broader questions about content ownership, compensation, and ethical AI use.

For Cambodians, the enhanced search capabilities will likely accelerate the nation’s digital transformation, empowering users and businesses alike. But as Google evolves, so too must its users—by staying informed, adaptable, and proactive in this fast-changing digital era.
