The remaining funds from the construction of the 34-lane infrastructure in Sihanoukville will be used to rehabilitate the nearly 9-kilometer-long Siem Reap River to help attract more local tourists.
This was said by Samdech Prime Minister, Hun Sen during the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction and improvement of 38 roads in Siem Reap on Monday morning, November 30.
“Since the construction budget in Sihanoukville is about 5 million US dollars, I previously ordered it to be included in the national budget, but now I divert this money directly from Sihanoukville,” he said. “Siem Reap alone is a $ 5 million improvement on both sides of our Siem Reap river.”
He added: “So we will make our Siem Reap a package that has been mentioned, it has roads, sewers, canals, sewers, rainwater, water networks, and security cameras for our people.” “And it will become a strong tourist city, worthy of the status of the former capital of the Khmer Empire.”
However, the prince said that after the relief of Covid in 2022, the government will organize a war event again, and Siem Reap will continue its tourism potential.
