After years of operation, Siem Reap-based Cambodian Cultural Village has finally announced the official closure of its business due to the financial crisis.
The Cambodian Cultural Village Company announced on October 11 that the Cambodian Cultural Village Company will close its business completely on November 7, 2020.
The announcement said that due to the outbreak of Kovid 19, the number of tourists dropped sharply for several months. As a result, the company has experienced severe economic and financial difficulties, with the company no longer being able to cover the costs surrounding its business operations.
Cultural Village is a model cultural tourism village with houses and buildings, history, customs of the Khmer people and the lives of all ethnic groups. This place has an area of 210,000 square meters in Siem Reap city.
There are 12 villages that represent different cultures and characteristics of 19 ethnic groups. Visitors can enjoy performances of traditional Khmer and ethnic dances in Cambodia and can watch performances on Cambodian wedding traditions as well as spectacles about Khmer history during the Angkorian period Jayavarman VII. In each village, visitors can also see demonstrations of stone carvings, wood carvings, silverware and gems.
There is also a wax museum that showcases various historical figures from the construction of Angkor Wat, the life of the Khmer people in the Chenla period, and icons for people with other historical inscriptions. In addition, there are 1/20 models of Central Market, Royal Palace, Wat Phnom in Phnom Penh, Phnom Udong, and model buildings of Khmer huts and houses, ethnic houses, pagodas and mosques.
